The National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL) has officially opened applications for its Summer 2026 NETL internship program, part of the Science Undergraduate Laboratory Internship (SULI) initiative.
Sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), this paid 10-week NETL internship program gives undergraduate and recent graduate students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in cutting-edge STEM research.

The NETL internship program will take place at the laboratory’s locations in Albany, Oregon; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and Morgantown, West Virginia. Participants in the program will enjoy:

Who can apply for NETL internship
To be eligible for the NETL internship program, applicants must be U.S. citizens aged 18 or older, enrolled full-time in a STEM program at an accredited college or university, or be a recent graduate within the last two years.
Candidates must also have completed at least one semester of undergraduate coursework and maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0. Proof of health insurance coverage is required before starting the program.
Interested students can apply through the SULI online application portal by 5 p.m. EST on January 7, 2026. Applicants should select “National Energy Technology Laboratory” on the application to be considered for the NETL internship program.
