Candidates Lament As JAMB Change of Course, Institution Portal Remains Unstable

JAMB Candidates Complain Over Change of Course, Institution Portal Issues as Post-UTME Deadlines Near

Candidates have expressed frustration over persistent issues with JAMB’s change of course, institution and biodata correction portals as Post-UTME registration deadlines approach.

Several candidates seeking admission into tertiary institutions across Nigeria have expressed frustration over the continued instability of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) portal for change of course, institution, and correction of biodata.

The complaints flooded social media shortly after JAMB announced the release of the 2026 UTME mop-up examination results and the commencement of candidate ranking for admission.

Many candidates said they have been unable to successfully process changes to their admission details despite approaching deadlines for Post-UTME registrations in various institutions.

A user identified as real Big_Obi questioned why the portal issues have persisted for more than a week despite the urgency of admission processes.

“Why is this not working for over a week now and schools have deadlines? What’s going on?” the candidate wrote while addressing JAMB spokesperson Fabian Benjamin on X.

Another candidate, Godspower, complained that the portal for changing institutions remains unstable.

“What about the portal for changing of institution? The network is still not stable,” the user posted.

Some candidates are also pleading with JAMB to reopen the biodata correction portal to enable them correct errors that could affect their admission.

A user identified as random_user appealed to the examination body, saying:

“Please open the correction of biodata portal. I really need to correct a minor issue which is my name arrangement.”

Similarly, Miracle Nnamani urged JAMB to restore access to the change of course service before Post-UTME deadlines expire.

“Please open the portal for change of course. There is no time again. Post-UTME deadline is close. Some of us need to change course before we can buy forms,” the candidate stated.

Another candidate, I AM TWO CHAINZ, claimed a change of course request processed at a JAMB office was yet to reflect on the institution’s portal, forcing the candidate to proceed with registration using the previous course selection.

“This is someone’s education and money,” the user lamented.

Beyond portal modification issues, some candidates are still struggling to access their UTME results. One candidate, Fortune Chinemerem, revealed that losing the SIM card used during registration has made it difficult to retrieve examination results through the SMS service.

The candidate noted that the preferred institution has already commenced the sale of screening forms while the result remains inaccessible.

The growing concerns come at a critical period as universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education begin releasing Post-UTME and screening forms for the 2026 admission exercise.

As of the time of filing this report, JAMB had not issued an official statement specifically addressing the complaints regarding the change of course, change of institution, and biodata correction portals.

Candidates have been advised to continue monitoring JAMB’s official communication channels for updates while ensuring they complete admission-related processes before institutional deadlines.

What Candidates Should Do
  • Keep checking the JAMB portal periodically.
  • Visit accredited JAMB CBT centres for assistance where necessary.
  • Monitor deadlines for Post-UTME registration in their institutions of choice.
  • Follow official JAMB announcements for updates on portal restoration.
  • Ensure O’Level results are uploaded on CAPS where required.

With admission processes gradually commencing across the country, many candidates are hoping for a swift resolution to the technical challenges to avoid missing critical admission opportunities.
