What You Will Do

As an Outreach and Membership Associate, you will support AFJ’s outreach campaigns and membership programs by working closely with advocacy groups, legal organizations, and coalition partners.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Managing and updating large membership and contact datasets
  • Maintaining member records and engagement data using systems like EveryAction
  • Supporting outreach campaigns around judicial nominations and court reform
  • Organizing and supporting events such as Holding Court and Gavel In series
  • Building relationships with national, state, and local advocacy organizations
  • Assisting with newsletters, member briefings, trainings, and advocacy materials
  • Helping recruit new member organizations and support renewals
  • Supporting summer interns and cross-department outreach initiatives
  • Assisting with AFJ’s racial equity and inclusion efforts

Required Qualifications

To be considered, applicants should have:

  • A BA or BS degree, or equivalent professional experience
  • 1–3+ years experience in outreach, organizing, campaigns, data, or events
  • Strong data handling and organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
  • Experience working with diverse and underrepresented communities
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • A collaborative attitude and commitment to social justice values

Preferred Qualifications (Not Mandatory)

  • Experience with tools like EveryAction, Salsa, NGP VAN, or Convio
  • Background in coalition organizing or community engagement
  • Experience with social justice, nonprofit advocacy, or constitutional issues
  • Proven ability to plan events or training programs

Salary and Benefits

Annual Salary Range:
$57,500 – $63,751 (Union scale – Group 1)
