Okay, so we know why you’re here. You’ve probably typed “has unizik started giving admission 2026” into Google like 5 times today, refreshed JAMB CAPS till your thumb is tired, and every blog you land on is either recycled from 2019 or just talking grammar without answering the actual question.

Let us be direct, but let us also be honest about what we actually know — because when it comes to admission, guessing can cost candidates dearly.

Let’s break down what this actually means and what you should do if your own admission is not showing yet.

Has UNIZIK Started Giving Admission for 2026/2027?

Yes, UNIZIK has started the 2026/2027 admission process.

We can now say this confidently. UNIZIK has publicly announced the commencement of its 2026/2027 admission process and instructed UTME and Direct Entry candidates to ensure that their O’Level results are uploaded to their JAMB CAPS profiles as part of the admission process.

This is important because it moves the situation beyond the earlier stage where candidates were simply waiting for Post-UTME screening and wondering when admission would begin.

What We Know About UNIZIK’s 2026/2027 Admission

UNIZIK opened its 2026/2027 Post-UTME and Direct Entry screening process on May 27, 2026.

The university set its minimum UTME score at 160, which is few points above JAMB’s 150 national minimum benchmark for universities.

The screening and admission process has taken longer than the original registration timeline suggested, with additional screening-related updates continuing into late July.

Now that the admission process has commenced, candidates should pay much closer attention to JAMB CAPS because that is where JAMB’s official admission offer will appear.

So Why Is My UNIZIK Admission Not Showing on CAPS?

This is where many candidates start panicking.

You see someone on WhatsApp saying “UNIZIK has given me admission”, you immediately log into CAPS, and yours is still saying “Not Admitted.”

Before you start thinking the worst, remember this: UNIZIK does not have to give everybody admission at exactly the same time.

Your CAPS may still show no admission because:

• Your admission has not been processed yet.
• Your particular course or department is still being processed.
• Your admission may be included in a later batch.
• Your O’Level result may not have been properly uploaded to JAMB CAPS.
• There may still be outstanding admission processing on the university or JAMB side.

So if you met the required conditions and your CAPS is still showing “Not Admitted,” don’t automatically interpret that as a rejection.

“Your friend’s admission showing on CAPS does not mean your own admission should already be there. UNIZIK admission can move in batches.”

What If I Scored 160 or Above?

Scoring 160 or above met UNIZIK’s minimum UTME requirement for the 2026/2027 screening exercise.

But don’t make the mistake of thinking that 160 automatically guarantees admission. The minimum cut-off makes you eligible to be considered; it does not guarantee a place in every course.

Competitive courses can have much higher effective admission scores because many candidates may be competing for a limited number of spaces.

That is why your aggregate score and your chosen course matter.

What You Should Do Today

1. Check your JAMB CAPS admission status.
2. Check the UNIZIK admission portal.
3. Confirm that your O’Level result is properly uploaded to JAMB CAPS.
4. Check that your JAMB details and institution choice are correct.
5. Don’t pay anyone claiming they can “arrange” admission for you.
6. If you are still showing “Not Admitted,” keep checking.

The most important thing right now is not to let another candidate’s admission status make you panic.

Someone receiving admission today does not mean everyone else has been rejected.

Where to Check Your UNIZIK Admission Status

Forget random “UNIZIK admission list PDF” links being circulated on WhatsApp, Facebook and Telegram. Some may be outdated, while others may simply be copied from previous admission sessions.

For your actual admission status, use the official channels.

1. JAMB CAPS — your primary source: Go to JAMB e-Facility, log in, select “Check Admission Status” and then access your CAPS. If JAMB has processed your UNIZIK admission, your offer should appear there.
2. UNIZIK portal — secondary check: You can also check the UNIZIK admission portal using the details associated with your application.

What If I See “Admission Offered”?

If your CAPS changes to “Admission Offered,” congratulations — but don’t rush through the next step without checking the details.

Confirm that the institution and course shown are correct before accepting the offer.

Once you accept an admission offer on CAPS, treat it as an important decision. Make sure you understand exactly what you are accepting before clicking ACCEPT.

The UNIZIK Admission Deadline

JAMB’s 2026 admission policy framework set October 31, 2026 as the deadline for public universities to conclude the 2026/2027 admission process.

That means candidates should not assume that because admission has started, everybody must receive an offer immediately. The admission process can continue through the approved admission window.

Our Honest Take

We know the internet can make admission season unnecessarily stressful.

One person posts “I have been admitted”, another person says “UNIZIK has released first batch,” and before you know it, hundreds of candidates are refreshing CAPS every five minutes.

Now, the important part is confirmed: UNIZIK has started giving admission for the 2026/2027 academic session.

But that does not mean every candidate has been processed yet.

Our rule is simple: when we can verify something, we’ll tell you. When the process is still ongoing, we’ll tell you that too. Admission information is too important for guesswork.

And please — if anybody messages you claiming they can “arrange” admission for money, be extremely careful. Don’t send money to agents or individuals promising to manipulate your admission status.

Before You Panic About Your Score

If your CAPS is still blank, your next question is probably going to be: “Is my score enough for my course?”

That’s where your aggregate score becomes useful.
